Common questions
How often does the satellite fly over my farm?
Every day. AIMER Satellite uses imagery from one of the world's largest Earth-observation constellations. Around 200 satellites capture 3-metre resolution imagery, with a flyover of your farm daily.
Do I get satellite readings every day
Not every flyover produces a usable reading, and it's not always about the weather you can see.
Cloud is the most common reason, but even on a clear day, an image can be ruled out by thin high haze that's invisible from the ground, or by the technical checks every image must pass before it's trusted for cover detection, such as the images aligning precisely with your paddock boundaries. Only clear, reliable imagery makes it into your numbers.
On days without a usable satellite image, AIMER's live farm model and your phone measurements keep your covers current. This means you get a trustworthy number every day, satellite or not. Satellite-only tools can't do that.
Do I need to record grazing events?
No, there's nothing to record. Satellite readings, phone scans and AIMER's live farm model keep your covers current without a grazing diary, unlike most satellite pasture tools, which rely on grazing records to stay accurate.
Do I still need to do farm walks?
No. Satellite and AIMER's live farm model keep your whole farm measured automatically. If you ever want extra confidence, or fresh readings on a run of cloudy days, a quick scan with your phone is all it takes.
